Oscar Zamarripa

1949 Guadalajara, Mexico


He studied at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Guadalajara, distinguished with the Luis Echeverría medal for the best student in sculpture. With exhibitions in prestigious museums in Mexico and Guadalajara such as the Museo de las Artes Universidad de Guadalajara (Musa).


His work is characterized by textures, curves and the use of color. Master of the estofado technique, which involves a special paint finish on silver and gold lead that has been applied to the finely chiseled wood used in the Catholic church. Zamarripa is distinguished by his sculptures of faces that he calls “magical realism”.
