Balo Pulido

1975 Guadalajara, Mexico

Self-taught plastic artist. His work has been characterized by a figurativism that reflects his moods through landscapes and human figures in contexts that refer us to a nostalgia for the past. He is the owner of a technique in which spontaneity and the resources of abstract painting serve as his tools. Balo Pulido is an artist who, unlike many others, makes little use of brushes, and instead handles with great skill the palette knife in which, by spreading oil on small or large surfaces, he composes his works.

In his most recent works we are surprised by this marked inclination towards abstraction. Balo achieves a perfect balance between the figurative, which can be a waterfall among the rocks, to a purely abstract painting, but it can be seen from both forms or perspectives.

His figurative subject matter is also a reflection of that current in which the landscape stands out, and there is no lack of scenes with characters in action and a marked preference for machines, whether they are railroads, airplanes, motorcycles, etc.
